IT'S TIME TO BAN LIVE EXPORTS ONCE AND FOR ALL

FARMED ANIMALS NEED YOUR HELP.

Our plan to ban live exports: in the UK

  • We’ll push the UK Government to finally honour its manifesto pledge to make live exports from Great Britain illegal by passing the Kept Animals Bill.
  • Once the Bill is passed, we will be alert for any attempts to evade it. We will use this legislative success to persuade Europe to ban live exports from the EU as well.
  • Our International Awareness Day was held on 14th June in Parliament Square in central London to remind MP's that they must pass the Kept Animals Bill.

Our plan to ban live exports: in the EU

  • We are putting pressure on the European Commission to propose substantial improvements to the EU legislation on animal transport.
  • Last year, we submitted a petition with 900,000 signatures to the European Parliament. We shall demand rapid approval of reform in the Commission's proposals.
  • Our International Awareness Day was held 14th June in Parliament Square in central London with hundreds of protesters attending. We're also engaging with Members of the European Parliament and using the power of social media to spread the message far and wide.

Together we are making change happen

  • Thanks to your dedication and support: The UK Government has now passed the Animal Welfare (Sentience) Bill. This means that animals will once again be legally recognised as sentient beings who can feel pain and joy.
  • 130,000 signed our open letter to the Scottish Parliament calling on the Scottish Government for a moratorium on Scottish salmon farming, until a number of animal welfare concerns have been addressed by the industry.
  • Vital links between animal welfare and the environmental crises were formally recognised for the first time at a global level, after the adoption of a historic resolution at the United Nations Environment Assembly in March.
