This is the truth – what will you do with it?

Will you donate to end cages and factory farming for good? We can’t conduct further investigations or run campaigns to achieve more victories for animals without your help.

Rabbits and other animals are suffering

Each year, around 77 million rabbits are slaughtered in the European Union. Most of them are confined in cages, including breeding does. In their natural habitat, breeding does would live up to 7 years. Sadly, in a cage, they have a life expectancy of less than two years.

Factory farmed animals are trapped in a living nightmare. Horrors such as cages severely restrict movements and prevent farmed animals from engaging in a range of natural behaviours. You can help expose, and end, this cruelty.

We are making progress but...

Thanks to our generous supporters and NGO partners, Compassion in World Farming spearheaded a campaign across the animal welfare sector that led to 1.4 million people in Europe calling for an end to the Cage Age. As a result, the European Commission promised to introduce legislative proposals to phase out caged farming in the European Union but failed to do so.

Last year, thanks to our donors, we were able to launch a legal case against the European Commission, deliver months of intense negotiations with prominent decision makers and welcome a report on the future of EU Agriculture that urged them to deliver on their promise to ban cages.

Why are you so crucial right now?

You may be questioning why does this matter to us in the UK? It’s simple: much of the food we import from Europe comes from a range of factory farm systems, including cages. Changing the rules in Europe will strengthen our fight here at home to end cages for egg-laying hens and other vulnerable farmed animals.

That’s why we’re at a crucial time to get cages banned for good. If we can achieve legislation to ban cages in Europe, we will be setting a global precedent for better, cruelty-free lives for billions of animals worldwide. Ending factory farming and cruel cages is a huge ambition, and right now we are up against serious challenges. But with the support of amazing people like you, we can succeed.

We need you

Our promise to you is to use your gift in the most effective manner possible to end factory farming:

  • Save Animals. Factory farming is the bigget cause of animal cruelty on the planet.
  • Save Our Planet. Factory farming intensifies climate change.
  • Save Wildlife. Factory farming threatens the survival of many animals and plants.
  • Save Our Future. Factory farming wastes resources, giving little food energy in return.
  • Save Our Health. Factory farming breeds disease and causes antibiotic resistance.

The vision, involvement, and investment of Compassion's monthly supporters will help the world move past cruelty and destruction, sparking a new era in agriculture and farmed animal welfare.

Together, we can pioneer abundant, sustainable food that is free from animal suffering, now and for generations to come.
