Change labels, expose the truth and end cruelty.

The truth behind common labels

Food labels often paint a picture of whole farms or happy animals, but the reality can be very different. Behind the countryside imagery and reassuring words, millions of animals endure lives of suffering in intensive systems. With your support, we can continue campaigning for greater transparency as to how food is produced - empowering people everywhere to shop with compassion and accerlate our mission to end factoring farming.

Honest labelling is not just about consumer choice; it's about exposing the truth and creating a fairer food system for animals and people alike.

A chicken behind "farm-fresh" claims

Millions of chickens are reared for meat in overcrowded sheds, bred to grow unnaturally fast, which causes pain and suffering. They live without natural light and with little enrichment, yet packaging can often suggest idyllic living conditions. Clearer labels would reveal how chickens are truly raised, helping shoppers distinguish higher‑welfare options.

Your gift could fund: rapid‑response media to challenge misleading industry claims and promote transparent welfare standards.

The truth about "traditional" pork

Young pigs are routinely kept in crowded pens – tails docked and teeth clipped, unable to behave naturally. Despite this, food packaging often features countryside scenes that conceal the reality of their lives. Honest labelling would expose this gap between imagery and truth, making it easier to support better welfare choices.

Your gift could fund: policy proposals and minister briefings to pressure on decisionmakers and drive meaningful legislative change.

Dairy cows with no "country" life

Many dairy cows spend their lives in zero‑grazing systems, never accessing pasture. Their calves are taken away almost immediately after birth, often reared in isolation. This cruelty is hidden behind cheerful green countryside branding. Honest labelling would allow consumers to choose higher‑welfare dairy products – like milk, cheese, and yoghurt – that reflect genuine care for animals.

Your gift could fund: consumer education and collaboration with food businesses to improve labelling schemes and food supply chains.

We need you

Our promise to you is to use your gift in the most effective manner possible to end factory farming:

  • Save Animals. Factory farming is the biggest cause of animal cruelty on the planet.
  • Save Our Planet. Factory farming intensifies climate change.
  • Save Wildlife. Factory farming threatens the survival of many animals and plants.
  • Save Our Future. Factory farming wastes resources, giving little food energy in return.
  • Save Our Health. Factory farming breeds disease and causes antibiotic resistance.

The vision, involvement, and investment of Compassion's monthly supporters will help the world move past cruelty and destruction, sparking a new era in agriculture and farmed animal welfare.

Together, we can pioneer abundant, sustainable food that is free from animal suffering, now and for generations to come.
